Bicycles from Japan have a production monthletter in either the first or second position and a productionyear number in the other (first or second) position. Taiwanese imports have aseparate date code number on the right rear fork end thatincludes the letter "G" followed by a two-digit month code(01 = January etc.) and two more digits for the productionyear (80 = 1980 etc.). Also Note that if your bike is after year 2001 the Schwinn/Questor bankruptcy, It has been foundthat ( Pacifc Cycle ) bikes do not use this dating. Damage such as broken welds, bent forks, and 'flat spots' on rims will result" -- Breaking all the bicycling rules since 1977.
The problem is that it looks slighty different from the original catalog pik i have so im not sure of the year now.. Serial# is 2kbxm00238 • • I cant find this bike online anywhere. Perhaps there is another number that I overlooked somewhere else on the bike but I looked all over and believe this is the only number. An example would be 'G0181' and equates to "Giant, January, 1981".of build 1 thru 365, the 4th (last digit) is the last number in the year. If you are not sure which decade the bike is from, check the parts and graphics on the bike to the pictures in the catalog pages.Had to have the saddle retopped as it was very dried out from lack of attention, resulting in a skirt split that basically left it unable to be ridden. You won't believe how nice this bike looks now that it is cleaned up.
